XtremeCamera is a photo community for those that love photography. Whether you are an amatuer, professional, or simply someone that loves to browse great photographs, you will find that XtremeCamera is the best place to store photos, share photos, and organize your photos online. The best way to learn about XtremeCamera is to view some of our tutorials, upload some photos, browse our Member and Pro Galleries, and to explore the site. While you're at it, why not sign up for a free membership, a premium membership, or a 14-day free trial premium membership?
There is a single membership available; xc:Premium. A Premium membership is $49.95 a year and offers some great features (read below), while some people find the xc:Free membership provides all they need. If you're not sure which one is best fits your needs you can sign up for a xc:Premium Trial, a 14-day free trial membership of our Premium membership. For 14 days you'll receive all the features of the Premium membership, and you don't even have to use your credit card! (In order to maintain your membership you must upgrade to a full premium membership by the end of your 14-day trial. Read below on how to do that with a few clicks of your mouse.)
FAQ:2 Can I start uploading images right away?
Absolutely! During your sign up we created your first photo album, called "My First Album". You can upload immediately
into that album or create a new one by visiting your "Organize My Photos" section. You can create as many photo albums as want, and delete them when you want. After you have created an album you can click the 'Upload
Photos' link from the menu or from the pull down Control Panel. You might even want to download the XtremeUploader (xc:Premium members and Mac users only at this time). XC:Free members may upload photos only to the Member Gallery while xc:Premium members can upload to the Member Gallery AND their own private galleries. The Pro Gallery is reserved for photos that have been voted into the gallery. (See next FAQ)
FAQ:3 - How can I get my photos in the Pro Gallery?
The Pro Gallery is a special gallery reserved for photos that have received 100 or more "votes" from other members, and that are rated "4 stars" and above. The best way to get your photos into the Pro Gallery is to upload your best work to the Member Gallery, promote your photos by making sure they are titled well, have proper descriptions, great keywords so that they can be found in member searches, and are uploaded into the right categories. Members browse the Member Gallery constantly so your photos will be seen. By making sure you've uploaded your best work and they are properly tagged will ensure the best results.
FAQ:4 Why does my free account expire in one year?
All our memberships are good for one year. If you are an xc:Free member and your one-year anniversary is approaching you can renew it without interruption. *Note: If you decide to upgrade your free account at any time during your one-year membership your new premium membership is automatically reset to one-year from the day you upgrade.
FAQ:5 How do I upgrade my xc:Free membership?
Upgrading your free membership is easy. In your " My Account" page you can see an option to upgrade your membership. Simply fill out the information and click 'Submit'. Your membership length resets to one-year from the day you upgrade. Upgrading your membership gives you many new features, including raising your daily limit to the Member Gallery to 25 uploads per day, uploading unlimited photos into your private galleries, your own homepage/blog, and more. See our "Memberships" page for detailed information.
FAQ:6 - What is a sub-domain and why do I have one?
A sub-domain is a special URL created for you when you signed up. It is your username followed by our xtremecamera.com domain name. For example, if your username is "Username" your sub-domain URL would be http://username.xtremecamera.com. For xc:Free members this URL is a gallery of all the photos you have uploaded to the Member Gallery. For xc:Premium members this URL is your private Homepage/blog at XtremeCamera. As a premium member this homepage is a wonderful online "home" where you can display all your photos, post your opinion/reviews/diary, or whatever you choose. No other online photo community offers its members anything close to what XtremeCamera offers its premium members!
FAQ:7 - Why do I have a Profile?
Your profile page (both free and premium members) is a snapshot of yourself so that others can learn more about you. Of course, the amount of information you choose to share is up to you. The more information you post to your profile the easier it is for other members to discover you and develop friendships online. We encourage you to fill out most, if not all, fields in the profile. Uploading an avatar (we encourage a photo of yourself at 80x80 pixels) provides an opportunity to develop a unique online presense on XtremeCamera.
FAQ:8 - I uploaded a photo of myself to my profile page but it does not show up. What happened?
Your profile photo, or avatar, must be no larger than 80x80 pixels. Chances are that if the photo is larger than that you will receive a warning and be asked to resize the photo and upload it again. If you do not receive such an error send an email to support@xtremecamera.com and we'll find out what happened and fix it.
FAQ:9 - Is my Credit Card information safe?
Your payment is processed through an SSL encryption page, no one can see this information. Also, we do not keep this information in our database so once the payment is processed its no longer available to anyone, anywhere.
FAQ:10 - Should I change my password regularly?
Although your "Sessions" on XtremeCamera are secure and our database is encrypted, its not a bad idea to change your password once and a while. Since no sensitive information is stored anywhere on our servers, its really up to you and how you feel about online security. If you do decide to change your password you can do so on your "My Accounts" page.
FAQ:11 Why was I logged out?
Our system logs you out when a determined time has lapsed of inactivity. This prevents prying eyes from accessing your account
if you get up and walk away from your computer for any length of time. Currently, we log you out after 20 minutes of inactivity.
FAQ:12 How can I make sure I am not shown inappropriate photos. I log on at work sometimes and I don't want anyone exposed to violent or sexual photos.
We have set the default Content Filter to filter out all photos above an "R" rated and above photos. In order to access these photos you will
need to go to click the "my:XC" Tab on the left side information tabs and choose the level of content you wish to view. This setting can be changed on the fly and as often as you like. There is no need to log out and back in for these changes to take effect. They are immediate changes.
FAQ:13 - Can I upload more than one photo at a time?
Right now there is only one method to upload photos, through your web browser, one photo at a time. However, if you are a Mac user, and an xc:Premium member, you can download our free XtremeUploader application. With this application you can upload as many photos as you want (up to 3.5MB per photo) into your private gallery. Your upload speed will determine how long your uploads will take. Broadband is recommended.
FAQ:14 Why don't I have my own Homepage?
Your homepage must be activated by you. Some people may not want their own homepage, or may not be ready for it. It can be activated
and deactivated anytime you choose. Go to your MyAccount page, choose Preferences and click on 'Activate My Homepage'. Your homepage
is instantly available under the 'home' link in your Quick Nav bar, and by typing in your default sub-domain. (EXAMPLE:
http://username.xtremecamera.com). Your homepage can be used for posting opinions, reviews, or anything else. It's your homebase on
XtremeCamera. We've set up a drop down menu under your 'xc:RecentPhotos' so that anyone who visits your homepage can view your photos
as you have uploaded them into your photo albums (folders).
FAQ:15 How do I use "Organize My Photos"?
Our Photo management tool is like nothing you've ever seen before. With our custom scripting talents we've developed a way for you to reveal all
the photos you have in your photo albums, and with a simple Drag And Drop you can rearrange your photos any time you want. Managing photos
has never been easier or more effective. Simply click on a photo album icon and a thumbnail version of all your photos in that folder will
fall out to the right of the folder. You can set how many thumbnails you see at one time, just in case you have dozens of photos in the
folder/album. You can create additional photo albums and then drag some or all of the contents from your current album to the new one. If you want to delete an entire album full of photos simply drag the whole album to the Trash icon.
FAQ:16 - What size do my photos need to be?
For the Member Gallery we recommend that your photos be no larger than 550k. At the same time, uploading photos that are too small will not give other members a good view of your work. The ideal size would be 1024x768 pixels, allowing members to view your thumbnail, a nice medium size photo, and a larger view should a member wish to view it. If you are a premium member (xc:Premium) your uploads to your own private gallery can be as large as 3.5MB (each) allowing you to upload hi-res images for your clients to see. However, these large photos should not be uploaded to the Member Gallery.
FAQ:17 How does the Messaging System work?
Our message center is unique in that you do not have to include an entire email address in order to send a message. Plus, the message
is kept Internal; it does not go outside our servers. Simply type the name of a member (a username), and type your message. If you cannot remember the username for a certain member type in the first few letters and all the member names which are similar will begin to drop down. Choose the correct name and it will appear in the "To:" field. Your message will be
instantly transported to the Inbow of the member. You can even see if or when your messgae is read by the member. Styling your messages if also available.
FAQ:18 How can I tell if a friend of mine is online?
Under the Control Panel you can see a link to "Who's online". Click this link and you will see which members are online at any given time. (you will also see how many 'guests' are online as well) For a list of all the members you can visit our Member Directory.
FAQ:19 - Can I start my own threads in the Discussions forum?
Absolutely! Our forum is completely integrated into the overall site, so when you log in you are automatically logged into the community
forum. We've made it very easy to respond to posts made in the forum as well. At the bottom of every forum page there is a reply box. Type
your reply and hit submit. It's that easy. If you want to start a discussion in the forum just make sure it's done in the right Forum
Category. If you want us to create another category that you don't think weíve satisfied let us know by posting it to the Suggestion Box
forum and if enough people agree we'll create it.
FAQ:20 - Will you censor my photos?
No, not generally. However, keep
in mind the following; we don't like censorship in any form. But that does not mean that we will allow anything to be posted in the
main gallery. Yes, you can filter out unwanted images, but sometimes we will have to step in and either delete a photo or place a special
warning on it. Types of photos that 'may' be deleted or deemed 'offensive' are excessively violent in nature. Violent can be sexual
violence or physical harm, photos of dead soldiers, explicit car wrecks, things that, put plainly, are depressing to anyone. We just
don't feel XtremeCamera is the place for this type of work. Weíre not saying there isn't a place for this work, but its just not here.
We hope you understand.
FAQ:21 - Where can I find more information?
We have several FAQ's and Help sections throughout the site, and many Flash Tutorials accessible under the Control Panel link "Tutorials". You can learn how to use various sections of the site by viewing the tutorial(s) for that section.

Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of ìoriginal works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Section 106 of the 1976 Copyright Act generally gives the owner of copyright the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:
-
To reproduce the work in copies or phonorecords;
To prepare derivative works based upon the work;
To distribute copies or phonorecords of the work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending;
To perform the work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and motion pictures and other audiovisual works;
To display the copyrighted work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work; and
In the case of sound recordings, to perform the work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission.
In addition, certain authors of works of visual art have the rights of attribution and integrity as described in section 106A of the 1976 Copyright Act. For further information, request Circular 40, Copyright Registration for Works of the Visual Arts.
It is illegal for anyone to violate any of the rights provided by the copyright law to the owner of copyright. These rights, however, are not unlimited in scope. Sections 107 through 121 of the 1976 Copyright Act establish limitations on these rights. In some cases, these limitations are specified exemptions from copyright liability. One major limitation is the doctrine of "fair use," which is given a statutory basis in section 107 of the 1976 Copyright Act. In other instances, the limitation takes the form of a "compulsory license" under which certain limited uses of copyrighted works are permitted upon payment of specified royalties and compliance with statutory conditions. For further information about the limitations of any of these rights, consult the copyright law or write to the Copyright Office.
