About Me

I am a professional photographer specializing in people photography. I love to photograph children; their warm, honest smiles are awesome!

I also enjoy photographing people with special needs. There are wonderful stories to be told, a lot of these stories can be told through their eyes. I am currently in the accreditation process with Special Kids Photography of America.

My favorite shots are usually close ups of kids faces. I shoot all digital, currently using two Nikon bodies, a D200 and a D300 and a variety of lenses. My favorite lens is my Nikon 17-55mm 2.8; it has top notch optics producing rich and vibrant colors.

Though I have been involved with photography for over 20 years, my style has really evolved in the past couple of years into a very photojournalistic style; I really enjoy the up close with a story behind it image.

About my photography background: In 1983, at the age of 14, I was given an Argus C44, 35mm, rangefinder camera. Included were 3 lenses: A 28mm, 50mm and 100mm. What was not included was any light meter.

Over the years, I have learned photography from the ground up, including hand developing film and hand printing both color and B&W. I have shot with 35mm, medium and large format cameras. I have photographed weddings, portraits, corporate events and various other things over the years including some catalog work.

Early in 2003, I purchased my first DSLR; the Fuji S2. In October of 2003, I shot my first “digital” wedding. Though I had planned on shooting only the candids digital and staying with medium format for the ceremony and formals, the bride begged for all digital, so that is what she got. Since then, I have been 100% digital.

Most of my current work is photojournalistic coverage of events and portraits of children and young adults with special needs.

My Experience: As a professional photographer, I have covered numerous events including weddings, social events, corporate banquets and other corporate outings. I have also done a large spectrum of portraiture including corporate, model and actor headshots. In the 90's, I did a great deal of child and family portraits. My portrait work includes both studio and location. In the early 90's I operated 1 hour labs and did both color and B&W darkroom work. Today, my work entails mostly corporate functions and donating my expertise to non-profits including Easter Seals of NH and the Daniel Webster Council of Boy Scouts Of America. I am a lighting junky; as a photographer, I believe your light should be built around the image, not your image around the light. I achieve this either with my studio lights or by setting up several Speedlights. When shooting with the Speedlights, I either control them with the CLS system or I use Pocket Wizard slaves. I always use the Pocket Wizards with my studio strobes and do not rely on the optical syncs. I am a firm believe in: “Get it right in the camera”

My Favorite Camera: 1-Nikon D300, 1-Nikon D200
