photoprof says,

Congratulations on trying what I consider to be a very difficult shot. Even though I’m a member of the critique team, I’ve chosen to simply comment since I can’t claim expertise on the lighting required to capture a nice spider web. I’m anxious to read the suggestions of other critique team members. While my initial reflex was to question the composition and framing – why all the blank space below and to the right of the spider, I do see that their is a faint web at these positions and I know thats what you wanted to capture. I think a black background and perhaps some spray mist would help but other than that, I’m at a loss on this one.

I’m a huge fan of spider photos. I do prefer the macro shots of them because of the detail that you can see in them. This is a good shot but I would love to have seen a different view from this guy. I know from experience that the focus can be hard to get on spider shots. Overall, I think it’s a pretty good spider photo.
