The XtremeCamera Referral System
May 1, 2008 1:00 amBeginning Friday (or Saturday) XtremeCamera will introduce an exciting new way to grow our community while at the same time allowing our current members to be rewarded for their efforts in spreading the word about our community.
A referral system is going live in the next day or so, and the details on how it works are below.
From Sign Up And Beyond
If a current member tells someone about our community and that someone comes by, takes a look around, likes what they see and decides to join us, the person responsible for that new member should be rewarded.
So, during the sign up process the new member will see a field called “Referred by…”. In the field the new member should type the username of the current member and complete the sign up process.
Once the sign up process is completed a message goes out to the current member to inform him or her that the new member has signed up and gave that member as the referral.
The current member instantly earns a ‘referral point’. If the new member signs up as a free member the current member receives 1 point, if the new member signs up as a premium member the current member is rewarded 5 points. Members can earn an unlimited number of points.
Redeeming Points
Redeeming points is done automatically. When a free member has earned 50 points that free member earns a one-year premium membership. Automatically the member is upgraded to a brand new premium membership which will not expire for 365 days.
Premium members that earn 25 points will automatically have their memberships extended by 3 months. For every 25 points earned that member will receive an additional 3-month extension, making it quite possible to enjoy a lifetime of premium membership with XtremeCamera for free.
Once a free member becomes a premium member the future points go toward extending the premium membership. There will always be rewards for the new memberships our members are able to generate.
We are excited to bring this new system online and to be able to offer free members the opportunity to earn a premium membership, as well as giving premium members the opportunity to earn extensions to their membership. I think this is going to be a huge success for all of us!

OnSite Admin
Until we upgrade our signup process to include email validation (we have IP capturing), our Admins will need to spot-check the validity of new members. Any member that is found to be spiking the membership roster in order to receive referral points will see their membership terminated immediately.
